NIS2 · National implementation

NIS2 in Latvia

Latvia transposed NIS2 through the Nacionālās kiberdrošības likums (NKDL), in force since 1 September 2024 — among the earliest full laws.

Supervision

The National Cybersecurity Centre (under the Ministry of Defence) supervises, with CERT.LV as CSIRT. The NKDL set concrete national deadlines: entities had to self-identify and register, appoint a cybersecurity manager and notify the authority.

What is specific to Latvia

The NKDL goes further than the directive on governance: the mandatory designated cybersecurity manager role (with competence requirements) is a Latvian addition, and self-assessment filings to the NCC are part of the cycle.
